An unclaimed piece of space where you have to try and protect federation intrests without losing your ship. You play as the faceless, nameless captain of a Star Fleet ship in a territory known as the Maelstrom. Put enough of the obvious, you want to know about the gameplay right? This game is one of the best Star Trek games I've ever played. But there is always an exception to the rule, and this is one of them. Other than that the game is fun, but I just think about what it could've been.By ChakatBlackstar | Review Date: JOkay, most of you Star Trek fans know that there are only a handful of good Star Trek games. What is the point of a MMO if I need others just to finish group quests and dungeons? That was the idea that I had for STO then all that they did was to simply cut to the cheese and make a more standard game. They fixed the thing a bit with the intro quest for fed characters, but still I miss the chance to be assigned new guys under me, or work under a senior officer on a ship, and grow together. This was the main selling point for me but now that we have MMO, I don't get why we cannot have a fully rendered bridge, where players actually take a seat at a astation and play with others.some will make it to captain one day, but you should start as cadet at SFA, like everyone does. Especially when a Klingon vessel is hammering your shield and you try to convey your strategy to your first officer, which will pass it trough to the spoecific crew member. Many times it is easier to do it on your own that delegate and if you work in an environment where you have people below you (or you've been in the army), you know how hard is to trust others. The real shining point of BC was to give orders and rely on others, instead than do it yourself.
